Realising the potential of cross border cooperation between small & medium sized ports

With a number of successful cross border events already completed FLIP is helping the participating ports to make progress by sharing experience on port masterplanning and management of multi port stakeholders, investigate how small & medium sized ports in the Channel area can diversify their activities and enhance port - town links, learn about new Business Models can be developed for the sustainable redevelopment of redundant harbour buildings, analyse opportunities in the cruise sector by focusing on the port's capacity to better respond to industry requirements that can lead to greater frequentation. The FLIP project is also help ports to look at the future non maritime use of Maritime Heritage and historic harbour infrastructure.  It is helping three of the participating ports to work closely together on how they might optimize port infrastructure for future uses, including the Operation & Maintenance services for the offshore wind industry. Finally, the FLIP project is encouraging the participating ports to reflect on their contribution to resource efficiency and the circular economy in the FLIP ports.
